Barzura Coogee: 62 Carr St, Coogee – They boast that kids are welcome anytime of the day. They offer an extensive kids menu including nasi goring, chicken risotto and spaghetti cabonara as well as traditional favourites such as fish and chips and freerange chicken schnitzel. In addition to desserts such as banana split they also offer fruit. Brownie points given for offering some healthy options!

Outback Steakhouse: Locations including North Strathfield, Parklea, Campbeltown, Penrith and Wentworthville – This outback Aussie themed restaurant is great for kids. It opens early so you can dine at 5pm for dinner if your kids tire early. The extensive menu including a kids “Joey Menu” is always fresh and served quickly. Kids are given colouring paper and pencils to keep them amused while they wait. The music is fun and loud so a bit of noise from the kids will just blend right in. The licensed bar also offers cocktails such as flavoured martinins and Big Bloke beers for the adults. The North Strathfield restaurant is located next to a ten pin bowling alley for any pre or post dinner activities.

Echo on the Marina Café: 15 Normac Street, Roseville Chase – Set in Idyllic Roseville Chase overlooking Middle Harbour. I was actually surprised to find it catered to Children. The kids menu is varied and includes fish and chips, pizza and pastas as well as milkshakes and spiders. Kids can even feed the fish.

Little Rock Café: Stocklands Mall, Baulkham Hills and Westfield, North Rocks – This café offers a small enclosed play area for the kids so you can enjoy your meal while the kids are amused. Open for breakfast and lunch.

Munich Brauhaus Sydney: Cnr Playfair and Argyle St, The Rocks – This German restaurant in the heart of the city offers free face painting on Saturdays and Sundays between 12.30 – 2.30 and free balloons. The kids menu includes sausages and mash, fish and chips and schnitzel, as well as ice cream for dessert. For the adults you must try the crackling roast pork belly or the tasting plate of Bavarian specialities. And of course there’s the beers….

Hogs Breath Café: Campbelltown, Penrith, St Marys, Castle Hill, Warriewood, Blacktown, Richmond, Cronulla, Narellan, North Parramatta – Ample portions, kid friendly atmosphere, large selection of food for kids and adults alike. Large booths available to cater for families and colouring readily available. The Cronulla restaurant overlooks the beach so can be combined with a fun day out with a great family friendly restaurant.

The Flying Fox Café – Winnererremy Bay Park, 2 Mona Street, Mona Vale – This cafe boast a “Family Flavour”. Before going to this cafe download their printable colouring sheets from their website. The kids can take their colouring with then and receive a small treat. The “Cubs menu” was designed by mums and dads and offers the usual favourites as well as healthier options such as salads and sandwiches. It is located right next to a park and playground (with a flying fox), which makes this a great kids friendly choice.

The Mean Fiddler: Cnr Commercial Rd and Windsor Rd, Rouse Hill – There is a playground and Play Station area on site. On Sundays it’s buy one adult meal and get one kids meal free. On weekends they also have jumping castles, face painting and pony rides. The kids will be in heaven.

Pho at Fairfield: Located in Fairfield RSL, Fairfield – They call themselves the hottest new Vietnamese restaurant in the West. Expand your kids tastebuds with tasty treats such as rice paper rolls, crispy pancakes and of course Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup).

Mango Jam at Northies: Opposite North Cronulla Beach on the Kingsway, Cronulla – Located directly opposite this beach, this restaurant can be incorporated into a full day of fun. Discounted kids meals are offered on Tues – Fri before 7.30pm and at lunch on weekends.

The Belrose Hotel: 5 Hews Parade, Belrose – This “family hotel” includes Australia’s largest indoor soft play playground, split into a toddler room and a kids room.

The Family Brassarie, Canada Bay Club: 4 William St, Five Dock -If you are a member kids eat free on Tuesdays night and they have kids games. The menu is Italian inspired and includes pizzas, pastas, seafood, schnitzel and char grills from the BBQ. The Canada Bay Club is also great for kids parties offering a full kids disco!

Manly Pizza And Wine: 4/4-10 Sydney Rd, Manly – A fantastic find when I was last in Manly. Very family friendly – comfy Italian pizzeria style with red check table clothes, colouring pages and drinks for the kids were practically on the table before we even sat down, the pizzas were sensational, and its only seconds from Manly beach. Oh, and yes my glass of wine went down quite nicely too – they had quite an extensive range by the bottle and the glass.

Newport Arms: 2 Kalinya St Newport – We couldn’t have a list of child friendly places to eat without mentioning this one. Australia’s largest waterfront beer garden with 2 playgrounds for the kids, making this one of the best child friendly restaurants in the Sydney area.

Wagamama: George St and Bridge Sts Sydney CBD – Kids eat free everyday! (Buy one main meal get a kids free.) No chicken nuggets and chips here. Their menu includes ramen noodles, mini katsu and stir fries.
