1985: Test Marketed, the First Release of Halloween Buckets

McDonald’s first released the Halloween Buckets in 1985, which can be seen as a test market, only in some areas such as New England, central New York, and Boston. These plastic buckets were introduced as part of the Happy Meal during the Halloween season, with two original designs but four different names: McPunky and McPunk’n; McGoblin and McJack. In 1986, McDonald re-issued these buckets, but the faces were printed smaller than the 1985 designs.

1989: McWitch and McGhost

Two new characters were released in the 1989 Halloween season: McGhost, a white bucket with a white pumpkin lid; McWitch, a green body with a green witch hat lid.

1992-1994: Cookie Cutters Lids with Halloween Buckets

In 1992, McDonald’s added a little twist by introducing Halloween Buckets with glow-in-the-dark lids. These lids also acted as cookie cutters, adding more fun for families during the Halloween season.

In Sum, this is the first time these pails have been released in Australia, but McDonald’s has carried on this hallowed tradition that began 38 years ago! Although this year’s Halloween buckets don’t have lids, they still feature classic colours and come with unique stickers, with around 16 cute designs for you to get creative with!
